How a pub is

meant to be

Welcome to The Plough at Ivy Hatch, a quintessential Kent pub serving delicious plates, eclectic wines and craft ales

Owners Dale and James took over The Plough in October 2017. Since then, the dynamic duo have put their unique stamp of hospitality on the venue, championing not only mouth-watering menus, but also a wide range of wonderful wines, local beers and award-winning spirits.

Based near Sevenoaks in the heart of the Garden of England, The Plough is just a stone’s throw away from nearby attractions like the National Trust’s Ightham Mote. So, whether you’re popping in for a pint or tucking into a three-course meal, you can make a day of it before enjoying a spot of lunch, dinner or drinks with us!

Josh Gordon

Josh’s career in the kitchen has been a long and illustrious one. Starting out at Claridge’s in London, he’s worked under renowned names such as Gordon Ramsay and Mark Sargeant, and later moved to Kent to join The Swan in West Malling. He went on to cook at The Beacon in Tunbridge Wells, and The Wheatsheaf, again in West Malling, prior to bringing his unique gastronomic flair to The Plough.

Dale Bentley

Hailing from Leeds, Dale’s culinary journey began in Australia, where he worked for artisan coffee company Santos in Sydney. He’s since done everything from cafés and pubs to fine-dining,followed by a stint at London brunch venue Milk. He lives and breathes hospitality, launching Rafferty’s in Sevenoaks, then joining James to bring his passion project of The Plough to life.

James Norton

Although having worked in hospitality since he was 16, James’ true love of food was sparked by travels through Australia and Argentina, where he discovered new ways of sourcing, cooking and serving ingredients. A career in events management back in the UK led to collaborations with brands like Innocent Drinks, before teaming up with Dale at Rafferty’s Café in Sevenoaks. The rest is history…

What’s on

About our drinks

Our wines

We have a real thing for terrific wines here at The Plough, offering a broad selection of bottles from all over the world. From crisp New World whites to classic French reds, we’ve got something to tickle your taste buds and perfectly complement your meal. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, why not give our range of natural wines a try? Made the way nature intended, these vibrant, low-intervention vintages are something new, exciting and a bit different!

Craft beers

Along with wine, we certainly love our beer as well! Boasting an eclectic assortment of brews, the range includes popular favourites like Beavertown Brewery’s Neck Oil, Magic Rock Brewing’s Saucery, and Tiny Rebel Brewing’s CWTCH. Of course, we’re passionate about food, but believe there should be plenty of choice for the discerning hop lover too – we like to think of ourselves not as a gastropub, but a destination for drinkers and diners alike!

There’s never been a better time to be a gin, rum or whisky drinker! A cheeky G&T is the perfect summer tipple, while deeper, darker winter warmers come into their own throughout the colder months, so you can take your pick from a mixture of local brands including Greensand Ridge Distillery in Shipbourne, plus go-to options ranging from Hendrick’s to Bombay Sapphire. Come see us at the bar for a spirit of your choice!
